let them grow up

This morning Philip made himself a sandwich. He found a box to put it in, I saw him run out the door to catch his bus. The sandwich was in his hand, the box was on the table. He has ADHD. It’s raining hard outside. I told both boys to wear a jacket. Nicole wore a jacket, and the boys did not. At what point do you stop chasing after them? Thomas is almost 13 years old, and Philip is almost 12. They resent my telling them what to do. I resent telling them. So I told them once. They didn’t do it. They will get very wet. They have to grow up, even with ADHD. They both have to grow up. Philip use to make sandwiches that got left on the table. I guess if you look at it that way, he is making progress.
