You were born to shine

"Like stars across the sky, we were born to shine, all of our lives because we believe". These are the words to a song Bocelli sang for the Italian winter Olympics. International adoption is almost like running a marathon. For some it takes years to adopt. Years of saving, hoping, paper work, planning and waiting. I have been looking back at photos of my kids. If you saw me with Sarah today you would think she had always loved me, but it was a bitter beginning. I felt as if my heart had been ripped from me and cut into a million pieces. The only thing I had stronger then the pain of her rejection was hope it would get better. It did. She is my pearl of great price. She is priceless!
I am also amazed by Philip this week. He has ADHD. He only now began taking medication (three weeks ago). I got a phone call from his teacher, she wanted to know what happed to him...he has been so good! And Philip discovered crossword puzzles yesterday. He has done 9 whole puzzles in one day. This is my 10 year old who could not read. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't give up. If you are waiting do not give up. If you have a difficult transition do not give up. If they have health or learning problems, keep fighting for them. They need you. Believe...it's so worth it!

  1. Amen. Amy, we read your blog daily as you post and are still grateful for the photos that you took of Sheridan when you got Sarah. Even though your heart was breaking, you took the time to take photos of all the kids for those of us waiting.

We share some things in common as we both have family from Thailand and China. Ours wait for out little one was over 20 years. Blessings to you and yours.

  2. Amy,
I like the new layout. It really looks nice. What is the name of the layout and by chance would you know if there is a Wordpress version?
